Burlington City man taken off life support after weekend shooting

A Burlington City man died Sunday afternoon following a shooting early Saturday morning in Chambersburg.

Garious Burton, 30, was standing at the intersection of Morris Avenue and Franklin Street when he was shot once in the forehead. Police said he was in extremely critical condition until he was taken off life support on Sunday, Lt. Mark Kieffer said.

Burton is the city’s 19th homicide victim this year. Two more people were shot during the weekend, with a man shot in the abdomen on the 300 block of Elmer Street on Saturday night and another man was shot in the back on the 1000 block of Greenwood Avenue early Sunday morning. The victims from those shootings remain hospitalized.
