Ewing man shot and killed in Trenton

A Ewing man is dead after being shot multiple times near a city bar early Saturday morning, the Mercer County Prosecutor’s office said.

According to Deputy First Assistant Prosecutor Doris Galuchie, around 1:20 a.m. police responded to a call of shots fired at the corner of North Clinton Avenue and Poplar Street. Galuchie said police arrived to find a black male lying on the sidewalk in front of La Guira Bar.

The victim, identified as 20-year-old Enrico Smalley Jr., had been shot multiple times, including at least one shot to the head, Galuchie told The Trentonian. He was taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center where he succumbed to his wounds three hours later.

A motive has not been established and, at present, no suspect description was given.

The Mercer County Homicide Task Force is investigating the death, Galuchie said.
