But Boone, who appeared in an orange prison jumpsuit, signed papers rejecting the deal after consulting with his lawyer, Tina Frost.

Billmeier told Boone he could get 75 years if convicted of the murder and that it would be 63 years, or age 86, before he’d be eligible for parole.

But Boone stood up and told the judge he wanted a trial, to roll the dice. Before setting up the trial, Billmeier said he would first consult with the opposing lawyers before deciding to try Boone with or separately from codefendant Allan Q. Brookins, 23, the accused getaway driver of the getaway car.
Paul MickleWed, 10 Sep 2014 13:44:50 -0400http://trenton.homicidewatch.org/2014/09/10/kevin-boone-rejects-plea-deal-faces-possible-63-years-if-convicted-of-david-lewis-murder/David Lewis IIIKevin BooneFull cash bail requirement dropped for suspect in David Lewis slayinghttp://trenton.homicidewatch.org/2013/03/15/full-cash-bail-requirement-dropped-for-suspect-in-david-lewis-slaying/
TRENTON – A judge gave a murder suspect a chance at making bail this morning by dropping the full-cash requirement on his $500,000 bail.

Kevin Boone

Judge Mark Fleming of the Mercer County Superior Court cleared the way for Kevin Boone to convince a bail bondsman to put up the money to win his release until trial.

Assistant Mercer Prosecutor Lew Korngut did not object to the change in bail rules but said the state will want to have hearing to determine where the suspect got the money – an anti-gang provision.
Boone is charged with the July 19, 2012, shooting murder of David Lewis following a dispute about a dice game in an alley off East Paul Avenue in the North.

David Lewis

Korngut said the suspect allegedly chased the victim down the alley and pumped several shots into his back and head.
