Body found in Delaware River may be connected to Grayson murder

Officials from the Delaware State police told The Trentonian Wednesday that the body of a man was discovered in the Delaware River last Friday.

The body has been turned over to the New Castle County medical examiner to be identified, and state police did not release time or exact location of where the body was found.

That body may be connected to Trenton’s 16th homicide victim, but officials have not confirmed whether it relates to the murder of Florence Grayson.

On Oct. 3, Trenton police discovered the body of Grayson, 54, who died from multiple stab wounds in her upper torso in her home at 1326 N. Olden Ave. Police sources told The Trentonian at the time of her murder that the body had been inside the house for two days and that her killer is believed to be a man who jumped off the Delaware Memorial Bridge. The possible connection between the Trenton homicide and the Delaware suicide was discovered when a vehicle found at the bridge was connected to a man who lives in Grayson’s home.

Officials from the Delaware River and Bay Authority said the man jumped off the bridge on Oct. 2 at 1:38 p.m. City police have not released any new information officially connecting the Grayson homicide to the bridge jumper.

TRENTON - The killing of a woman found stabbed to death in her city home may be linked to a man who jumped off the Delaware Memorial Bridge, police said Wednesday.

Police received a 911 call from a resident at 1326 N. Olden Ave. at 12:14 a.m. Wednesday, police said. The caller had found the body of Florence Grayson, who had suffered stab wounds to the upper torso, said Sgt. Mark Kieffer. No weapon was recovered at the scene.

Grayson, 54, who lived with her boyfriend and several other people, likely knew her killer, Kieffer said. Police spent a day combing the home for evidence, with the body removed from the home sometime after 3 p.m. Wednesday, a neighbor said.
A source told The Trentonian Grayson’s body had been left in the house for two days. She becomes the city’s 16th homicide victim of 2012.

A police source said a man who lives in the home is believed to be Grayson’s killer, who allegedly stabbed Grayson to death and then jumped off the Delaware Memorial Bridge. The connection between the apparent suicide and the homicide was discovered when the vehicle of the jumper was connected to the man.

Officials from the Delaware River and Bay Authority confirmed that a man had jumped off the bridge on Tuesday at 1:38 p.m. The body of the jumper was not found.

Police have told the Trentonian that a woman was found stabbed to death in her home on Olden Avenue early this morning.

Police said they received a 911 call at 12:14 a.m. from another resident of the victim's home.

The caller, police said, reported that he entered a second floor bedroom, where he found Florence Grayson, 54, dead from stab wounds to her upper torso.

Trenton Police Sgt. Mark Kieffer said the attack was not believed to be random and that the victim likely knew her attacker.

Grayson is Trenton's 16th homicide victim.

Police investigate stabbing death in North Trenton

City police are investigating a homicide on the 1300 block of North Olden Avenue.
Early reports from police say a woman was found stabbed to death there at about midnight.
