Judge refuses to lower bail for man accused of Quaadir Gurley murder
A Mercer County judge refused Monday to lower bail for Isiah Greene, the man accused of shooting and killing 24-year-old Quaadir “Ace” Gurley.
Around 1:30 a.m. July 21, Gurley was shot several times on the porch of a residence in the 100 block of Rossell Avenue. He later died at Capital Health Regional Medical Center.
Greene was arrested Nov. 18 and charged with murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a handgun in connection with Gurley’s death. Bail was set at $500,000 cash, and on Monday, Superior Court Judge Robert Billmeier refused to lower that bail.
Prosecutors in the case said Monday that the initial investigation indicates there were two weapons involved in Gurley’s murder. But they still await ballistics testing to confirm that suspicion. Though prosecutors would not comment on the identity of the suspected second shooter, Assistant Prosecutor Jim Scott said the investigation indicates that Gurley was unarmed at the time of his death.
Prosecutors also say witnesses who were at the scene told police there were two shooters. And one of the witnesses, prosecutors say, provided a description of one of the shooters, which matched Greene. Additionally, surveillance video from the area of the shooting captured a person wearing the same clothing and matching Greene’s description, according to prosecutors.
