Grand jury indicts two in April homicide

A Mercer County grand jury has returned a four-count indictment charging two suspected gangsters in the April shooting murder of Jahmir Hall.

Mercer County Prosecutor Joseph L. Bocchini Jr. said Daniel McCargo and Curtis Grier, both 28, were indicted for murder and weapons offenses.

McCargo also was charged with possession of the gun by a convicted felon, a “certain persons’’ offense that alone could get him 10 years.

A spokeswoman for the prosecutor said the killing occurred on the Saturday, April 19 and 12:28 a.m. on Quinton Avenue, where officers found Hall, 24, lying partially under a pickup truck and near death.

Not long after Hall died at 1:01 that morning, officers spotted a black Mercedes Benz like the one witnesses to the murder had just described as the getaway car. Cargo and Grier were nabbed in the vehicle.

McCargo remains in the Mercer County Correction Center in lieu of $300,000 full cash bail. Grier is free on $300,000 bail.

Assistant Mercer Prosecutor Brian McCauley presented the case to the grand jury.
