A retired Trenton cop stood up in court to protest today when a prosecutor offered a 10-year plea deal to an accomplice of his son’s suspected killer.
Luddie Austin also confronted Raheem Currie as the accused accomplice stepped outside the courthouse, threatening the young man until his mother stepped in and told the cop “Get out of my face.’’

On the morning of June 29, 2013, Kenquetta Cohen was running errands when she first received news of her younger brother’s murder.
“I turned completely numb inside,” Cohen said in a recent conversation.
Cohen, 35, lives in Greenwood, South Carolina, and she received the news via a Facebook message that was initially read by her daughter. And after reading the message, the young girl called her mother and told her that 30-year-old Garious Burton was being kept alive by life support.
“My daughter said, ‘G has been shot and he’s on life support,’” Cohen said. “I thought it was a dream. But when I talked to police, the first thing they said was that they were sorry for my loss.” Read more
Police have identified a man who was found Wednesday shot and killed in an alley, and they also arrested a city man in connection with the murder of 23-year-old Naquan Ellis.

A city man was arrested Tuesday evening in connection with the murder of 33-year-old Pinkey Priester.
Around 10 p.m. on June 16, police were dispatched to the 300 block of Centre Street where they found Priester lying in the middle of the road suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Priester was then taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center and later pronounced dead.
Sources told The Trentonian that Priester had been in a fist fight shortly before he was shot and killed, but police have not confirmed that detail. Sources also say that the person who killed Priester stood over his body and fired several shots as he laid on the ground.

Police are investigating two homicides that occurred within an eight-hour span.
According to law enforcement, around 11 p.m. Tuesday, police were dispatched to the North 25 Housing Complex off of Calhoun Street to investigate a shooting in progress. Upon arrival, officers found two victims suffering from gunshot wounds. A female was struck in the leg and hand during that shooting, and a man was found in the parking lot suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest.
Both victims were taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center, and police say the female is in stable condition. The male victim died at the hospital, though, and he has been identified as 23-year-old Naquan Ellis.

A city man has been charged in connection with the murder of Keisha Alexander, the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office said on Sunday.
According to Casey DeBlasio, a spokeswoman for the prosecutor’s office, 20-year-old Jorge L. Rodriguez of Trenton was arrested on Saturday and later charged in connection with Alexander’s death.

A man was found shot and killed on Centre Street Monday evening.
According to law enforcement, around 10 p.m. Monday, police were dispatched to the 300 block of Centre Street to investigate a reported shooting in progress. And when officers arrived on-scene, they found a male lying in the middle of the street suffering from “numerous” gunshot wounds.
The victim was then taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. He was later identified as 33-year-old Pinkey Priester.
Sources told the Trentonian that shortly before the shooting, Priester and the alleged gunman engaged in a fist fight. But police said they do not have a suspected motivation for the killing, nor do they have a suspect description.

A city man who police say was part of a crew known as the “West Hanover Stickup Boys” was found shot and killed Monday in Spring Street Park.
According to law enforcement, early Monday morning police received a call reporting a dead body that was found near a bench in Spring Street Park. Police were then dispatched to the scene, where they found a man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, and he was later identified as 24-year-old Amir Hassan Glover. Read more
About six hours before 16-year-old Rayquan Brown was gunned down on Stuyvesant Avenue, he picked up his grandmother from work and they went shopping.
“We went to ShopRite and then came home,” his grandmother Sheila Holman said. “He left the house a little after 6 p.m. And when he walked out the door, he said, ‘I love you nanny.’ And I said, ‘I love you more.’”
That was the last time Holman spoke with her grandson.
